The Horses

Candide II

A new acquisition for the Slice of Pie Syndicate, Candide was purchased in May 2011 from Brian Lear, where Tickeridge and Pusiden originated, this 4yr old mare by Candidate will be aimed at age classes this season and BYEH qualifiers, her first proper outing will be at Bramham BYEH followed by BE runs at Berkshire College, Rackham and Firle. She is also entered to jump at Hickstead at the derby and RIHS meetings.

Pusiden (SID)

This 4 yr old, by Puissance and owned by the Slice of Pie syndicate has gone from strength to strength this season, he has won over £100 BS ,qualified for British Novice and Discovery 2 ND rounds and was well placed in the Lycetts 4yr old final finishing on his dressage score. Will contest BE 90/100 next season if not sold .

Lite my Fire (Lulu)

A very un chestnut mare who has settled really well to her job, this 6yr old TB by Accondy really tried to please throughout the season and ran really consistently, being won and placed at BE 90/100 level in her first season. This mare is sadly for sale as owners are overstocked and would suit a competent junior moving on from ponies.

Boundalong (Muffin)

This 8yr old mare by Royal Concord is owned by Susan Good and will run under there company name of  Hire a Loo. Muffin is a real jumping machine and upgraded to advanced with ease, completed Houghton 2 * CCI in the spring and the CIC 3* at Blenheim in the Autumn. She also jumped really well at Hickstead being placed in 7 of the 8 classes entered . Plans for 2011 include the 3* at Bramham, and Boekelo.

Tickeridge

Again owned by the Slice of Pie Syndicate and another acquisition from Brian Lear as was Pusiden. He has had a phenomenal season winning eight times at BE 100 level and five runner up spots. He has won the inaugural running of the BE Foundation points table, the SEEL BE 100 rankings and the SEEL Grassroots rankings . Tiggy finished the season gaining his first point at Pulborough novice. Winning of approx £250 BS and 155 BD points.

This horse has been a superstar this season and finds the job so easy, would do pure dressage or showjumping but would get bored rigid., He is again sadly for sale but Sam would love to keep the ride .

Very sadly he has now been sold to some very special new owners but Sam had a winning last ride on him when winning the Blue Chip Power Qualifier at Golden Cross.

Captain Christy

Now eighteen, although he behaves like a four yr old, had a great season considering everything. He successfully recovered from his much published heart operation and took Sam round her first attempt at 3* level and now both qualified for 4*. Murphy will be aimed at World Cup qualifiers next season and hopefully Burghley. Special thanks must go to his owner, Lou Furlong for keeping faith in the horse.

Seven 0 Seven (brook)

Brook had a mixed season which started badly pulling a muscle at Burnham Market in the spring, now sixteen he has found moving up to advanced level dressage quite daunting  but copped (just) but good runs at Gatcombe and Barbury confirmed our faith in him. He will go 3* in the spring, all being well.

Coevers Diamond Clover (Flynn)

This six year old owned again by The Slice of Pie Syndicate has had a great season, finishing the season by upgrading to Intermediate with 24 points on his card. And not picking up any jumping penalties cross country this season. He is so brave and keeps coming up with all the right answers for a six year old. He is now qualified for 2* and also has quailed for newcomers 2nd round and the winter SJ Championships at Foxhunter level.

At this time he is also for sale, and again Sam would love to keep the ride, Time wasters do not even think about coming to see him, he is to special for that !!!!

Flynn has now also been sold and has settled in really well at his new home and has already been to Equine Pathway training which he came top of the class !!!

Charter Party (Rory)

Owned by Dinah and Charles McDonald was a new ride for Sam this summer, he has scope to burn and a really big moving horse, had a few brake problems to begin with but these have now been overcome. He finished the season with 10 points in his first season at novice, being in the money every time out. Rory will be aimed at 1* in the spring, probably Houghton Hall and finish with a 2 star at Osberton.

Kir Royale (Kiri)

Kiri has just arrived at the yard, formerly ridden by Isobel Hudson and his owner Jennifer Streek. Kiri is another chestnut mare and finished the season well winning a BE 100 section in awful going at Dauntsey. In the very short time she has been with us, this ten year old, which moves really well looks to have a future and will move up to novice level in the spring.

Above Board (Archie)

A new ride for Sam this season, again owned by Dinah and Charles McDonald and formerly ridden by Fiona Breach. Archie is the oldest of the McDonald home bred string out of there splendid mare Pollys Tiara by Its Without a Doubt and is a full brother to Charter Party. We have high hopes for Archie this year, aged nine he is now ready to make a serious impression this season, he currently has 45 points and will be aimed at Houghton Hall 2* in the spring all being well. He is bigger than Sams normal rides due to his very long legs but after a winter of Show Jumping and Dressage everything seems to be clicking into the right place.

Eagles Ridge (Fergus)

At four, Fergus is the third and youngest member of the McDonald string, by Quakers Field, again out of Pollys Tiara. Fergus will hopefully be a superstar in the making with a lovely attitude and being very trainable with a correct jumping technique. He has done a couple of low key dressage shows and been cross country schooling and will have a short break before returning in the spring. His main aim will be the four year old championships at Osberton in the Autumn, a class which Golden Cross produced horses have excelled at in the past.

Ambastor Princess (Hattie)

Hattie will also run this spring with Sam until sold. Owned by Sarah Jane Lloyd. A spare ride last season at Firle saw this lovely mare win the OPN and was unfortunately balloted out at the last few events. She will start her campaign at Tweseldown doing a PN, followed by a PN+ at Munstead and a Novice at South of England. This mare tries her heart out for you and would suit a teenager just coming off ponies.
